{"id":19925,"date":"2022-06-17T12:15:03","date_gmt":"2022-06-17T03:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginza.jp\/?page_id=19925"},"modified":"2022-11-29T17:48:02","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T08:48:02","slug":"bicycle-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ginza.jp\/en\/townguide\/bicycle-rules","title":{"rendered":"Bicycle Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"page_title\">\n<h1 class=\"page_title-text\">Bicycle Rules<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"trafficinfo\">\n<div class=\"bicycle\">\n<h2>Bicycle rules in Ginza<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Bicycles must generally be ridden on on the road.<br \/>\nAccording to Article 17 of the Road Traffic Law, &#8220;As a general rule, on roads with separate sidewalks from the road, bicycles must be ridden on the road.&#8221;<br \/>\nIn Ginza, bicycles are prohibited from riding on the Ginza-dori (Chuo-dori) sidewalks or vehicle-free promenade (when open).<\/li>\n<li>However, bicycles can be ridden on sidewalks in the following cases:<br \/>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>(1)<\/td>\n<td>There is a sign on the sidewalk that says bicycles may be ridden on that sidewalk.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td>1. Showa-dori and other streets with designated bicycle lanes<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td>2. Harumi-dori, Nishi-Ginza-dori, and other streets with signs saying &#8220;priority to pedestrians&#8221; (bicycles may be ridden on those streets with the condition that they give pedestrians the right of way)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>(2)<\/td>\n<td>Bicycles being ridden by those under 13, 70 or over, or who are physically impaired.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>(3)<\/td>\n<td>Bicycles cannot be ridden on the left side of the road because of construction work, separately parked vehicles, or other obstacles.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In any of the above cases, priority is always given to pedestrians.
