{"id":4407,"date":"2015-11-28T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2015-11-28T01:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginza.jp\/?p=4407"},"modified":"2015-12-24T17:36:34","modified_gmt":"2015-12-24T08:36:34","slug":"ginza-illumination-2015-%e6%a8%b9%e3%81%8c%e3%81%a4%e3%81%aa%e3%81%90%e6%9c%aa%e6%9d%a5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginza.jp\/en\/event\/4407","title":{"rendered":"Ginza Illumination Hikarimichi 2015 \u2013 Connecting to the future with trees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"top20151116\">\n<p class=\"headline\">Ginza Street Association, Ginza International Luxury Committee (GILC) and Ginza Association will be holding Ginza\u2019s full-scale illumination that has become a very popular year-end and new-year tradition since its start in 2011, titled Ginza Illumination, for a period of 44 days from Sunday, November 29, 2015 to Monday (holiday), January 11, 2016 at Ginza-dori (Chuo-dori) and Harumi-dori.<br \/>\nThis year will mark the 5th time of this project and is themed \u201cHikarimichi 2015 \u2013 Connecting to the future with trees.\u201d Roughly 130,000 Ginza Illumination\u2019s original Special Champagne Gold LED lights will decorate the total of 209 Japanese yew trees on Ginza-dori, which include 100 new Japanese yew trees about 3 meters tall added to the existing 109 trees, and also the guard rails and street lamps on Harumi-dori, to make Ginza look glamorous.\n<\/p>\n<h3>Project Details<\/h3>\n<div class=\"entryblock\">\n<h4>Ginza Illumination Hikarimichi 2015 \u2013 Connecting to the future with trees<\/h4>\n<p>Period: 3 p.m. to midnight, Sunday, November 29, 2015 to Monday (holiday), January 11, 2016 (tentative) *Starts at 4:30 p.m. on November 29<br \/>\nLocation: Ginza-dori (Chuo-dori) 1-Chome to 8-Chome and Harumi-dori from the Sukiyabashi intersection to the Ginza 4-Chome intersection area<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearFix\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/..\/wp-content\/themes\/ginzaofficial\/topics\/img\/20151116Illumination\/20151116Illumination_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"leftphoto\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/..\/wp-content\/themes\/ginzaofficial\/topics\/img\/20151116Illumination\/20151116Illumination_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"rightphoto\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entryblock\">\n<h4>About Hikarimichi 2015 <br class=\"sp\">-Connecting to the future with trees<\/h4>\n<p>In this Ginza Illumination project that began with the aim of supporting the recovery of Tohoku, 100 of the trees that will be planted this year will mostly come from the Tohoku region. The Hikarimichi illuminated path that extends into the future with a vision of hope will brightly energize the Ginza district that is the center of Japan, connecting people\u2019s wishes and the path to the future of Tohoku from Ginza.<br \/>\nAs usual, during the illumination period, Hikarimichi Charity donation boxes for the support of recovery in Tohoku will be set up in each GILC brand store as well as in stores endorsing our intent and purpose. The collected donations will then be donated to the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan.<br \/>\nA lighting ceremony is scheduled to be held on the opening day of November 29.\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/..\/wp-content\/themes\/ginzaofficial\/topics\/img\/20151116Illumination\/20151116Illumination_03.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entryblock\">\n<h4>A never before seen scenery! <br class=\"sp\">Two hundred nine illuminated trees decorate Ginza-dori <br class=\"sp\">in magical colors<\/h4>\n<p>This year, a total of 209 illuminated trees will blanket Ginza-dori (Chuo-dori) to create a magical scenery you have never seen. Roughly 130,000 specially developed Special Champagne Gold LED lights will glamorously envelope the streets covering a distance of roughly 1500 meters from Ginza-dori 1-Chome to 8-Chome and on Harumi-dori from the Sukiyabashi intersection to the Ginza 4-Chome intersection area. Further, the additional 100 trees brought from the Tohoku region will be processed into woodchips after the event, which will then be donated to various facilities and organizations in Chuo Ward and Tohoku to be used as teaching materials in workshops and in parks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entryblock\">\n<h4>\u25a0 What is the Ginza International Luxury Committee (GILC)?<\/h4>\n<p>In 2002, seven international luxury brand companies with shops on Ginza-dori or Harumi-dori joined together to establish the Ginza International Luxury Committee (GILC) with the aim of revitalizing Ginza and raising its profile. GILC is a committee of the Ginza Street Association, and currently counts 20 companies as its members. As one part of Ginza, a district that represents Japan, GILC\u2019s goal is to teach the rest of the world about Ginza as a highly international place with a strong cultural presence.
