My personal relationship with the Tokyu group goes back to when I was a small child. I used the Tokyu line to go to school. My familiarity with the Tokyu group makes me all the more excited that Tokyu Fudosan Holdings Corporation will open Tokyu Plaza Ginza on March 31. <\/dd>\n

I must say, that was quite a challenging project. A great deal of time and money went into it (laughs). <\/dd>\n
Takashima <\/dt>\n
Yet you sought to open a new establishment in that location. It is indeed an excellent spot in Ginza 5-chome. <\/dd>\n
Kanazashi <\/dt>\n
Yes, it is a one-of-a-kind location, facing the Sukiyabashi intersection. <\/p>\n

Given that Ginza is an international commercial center, we hope to run the building as the Tokyu group\u2019s flagship establishment. Since our group has been long known for its presence in the western areas of Tokyo, we hope that Tokyu Plaza Ginza will serve as the Tokyu group\u2019s eastern hub. We have high expectation for future developments. <\/dd>\n

What will the new establishment be like? \/dd><\/p>\n
Kanazashi <\/dt>\n
It will be a commercial establishment with 13 floors, including 11 stories above ground and 2 basement floors. The fa\u00e7ade has been designed in the image of a \u201cdish of light\u201d made of Edo Kiriko cut glass. We will have 125 shops carrying a wide variety of high-quality and trendy products. We will also have an airport-style duty free shop covering a floor area of 4,000m2 so that customers from abroad can also enjoy shopping. <\/dd>\n

I am hoping that our public space will be an attractive place for our customers. Named the Kiriko Lounge, it is spacious, with a high ceiling of several stories. In collaboration with Bunkamura, from the Tokyu Group, we plan to hold concerts and other cultural events,. Parties and music events can also be held on the Kiriko Terrace on the roof. We seek to produce an establishment where different people and inspirations from various cultures and generations meet. <\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n

The starting point for Tokyu Fudosan Holdings was a pioneering project in 1923 to develop Den-en Chofu as a historical town.<\/dd>\n

Since that beginning, we have engaged in real estate development through Tokyu Land Corporation, which was founded in 1953, and have advanced into property management and the real estate brokerage business. Tokyu Community Corporation and Tokyu Livable, Inc., both of which came into existence at the beginning of the 1970s, went on to establish leading positions in their respective industries. Tokyu Hands, another group affiliate, was established later, exhibiting our corporate consciousness to evolve ahead of the times. <\/dd>\n

It was founded in October 2013. Today, we are engaged in a diversity of businesses in approximately 100 group affiliates employing 18,000 people.<\/dd>\n

It is \u201csharing tomorrow\u2019s inspirations\u201d. It is a verbalization of the group\u2019s ideals, which have been revealed through questionnaire surveys conducted across all employees. <\/dd>\n

I love music, especially classical music. I am particularly fond of the violin. <\/dd>\n

I am so happy to hear that! Do you often go to concerts? Do you have a favorite artist? <\/dd>\n

I do go to concerts very often, but I not to hear a particular artist play.<\/p>\n

I also sing in a choir myself. We gather at least once a month to practice. <\/dd>\n

You really do have a liking for music! Which choir do you sing in? <\/dd>\n

Actually, I launched the choir myself. A few of us originally started it as a post-retirement pastime, but the membership has gradually increased into a group of around 20 members. <\/dd>\n

Tokyu Fudosan Holdings has supported the \u201cYappa Ginza-dabe\u201d project that supports the economic reconstruction of areas affected in the Great East Japan Earthquake. We sang in Kesennuma as a part of our activities under the project. We have also been granted the opportunity to sing regularly at a nursing home in Tokyo. The audience listens to our performance with tears in their eyes. Please come support us in our activities one day. <\/dd>\n

Kanazashi <\/dt>\n
Ginza is Japan\u2019s No.1 commercial area, and everyone knows Ginza. Personally, I always came to Ginza on special days when I was growing up, so it is a great joy to be able to build a commercial establishment on the corner of such a special town. <\/dd>\n

Is there anything that you find challenging or worrisome? <\/dd>\n
Kanazashi <\/dt>\n
I believe what is important is to involve the town and the local people.<\/dd>\n
Takashima <\/dt>\n
Do you mean the Zen-Ginza-kai, for example? <\/dd>\n
Kanazashi <\/dt>\n
Of course, the members of Zen-Ginza-kai, too. We have pursued our development plans with the notion that as newcomers, we should not destroy the culture of \u201cGinza\u201d that has been carefully built and prized by the local people. <\/dd>\n

Will Tokyu Plaza Ginza blend in with Ginza? <\/dd>\n
Kanazashi <\/dt>\n
From the development stage, we have been careful about designing a fa\u00e7ade that will match the townscape and providing public spaces for visitors in Ginza.<\/p>\n

Our project also includes improvement plans for Sukiyabashi Park, adjacent to the Tokyu Plaza Ginza. We will have a local information corner on the first floor, looking out to the park. <\/p>\n

We hope that Tokyu Plaza Ginza will be an important spot for Ginza strolling. <\/p>\n

The real challenges of running a commercial establishment arise only after its opening, so I would like to keep my ears open to the voices of our customers and collaborate with the local community to hold events. Violinist. Takashima started taking violin lessons from the age of 6. After a successful career abroad, she moved her home base to Japan, where she currently performs in concerts across the country. Highly noted for her character in TV and radio appearances, she has currently opened up her career to more diverse fields with an unchanged focus on her profession. <\/p>\n
