A specialty store for Japanese confectionery with a history of over 500 years.
Toraya on Ginza Chuo-dori sells not only traditional Japanese sweets such as yokan (thick jellied dessert made of bean paste, agar and sugar) and monaka (a sweet made of azuki bean jam filling sandwiched between two thin crisp wafers) but also a wide range of other products including seasonal Japanese cakes (which cannot be found in most stores), original goods related to Japanese confectionery, and so on.
In addition, customers can enjoy sweets such as yokan, kuzukiri (jelly-like noodles made of powdered arrowroot) and an-mitsu (sweet desert made of small cubes of agar jelly, bean paste, fruit, etc.) in the spacious tearoom on the second floor.
